Frequently Asked Questions
Chiropractors earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Chiropractic Sciences after completing 5 to 7 years of higher education. This degree grants us the honorary title of Doctor of Chiropractic from the European Chiropractors’ Union (ECU).
The chiropractic curriculum focuses on the medical foundation of the human body. Specific courses include neurology, pathophysiology, epidemiology, immunology, radiology, nutrition, and specialized chiropractic care for patients such as newborns or the elderly.
The last two years of the program are dedicated to clinical internships at the university, where students participate in patient rotations accumulating a minimum of 1000 hours of experience.
Studies conclude with the completion of a research thesis approved by an expert panel in scientific research
Currently, there are 120,000 chiropractic professionals predominantly practicing in the most developed countries, such as North America, Australia, and Western Europe. In many of these countries, studies on the cost-effectiveness of chiropractic treatment have highlighted its superior benefits.
Several studies have also demonstrated the economic advantages that chiropractic practice can bring to the state’s finances, leading to its integration into healthcare systems.
It is essential to ensure that your chiropractor is a member of the Spanish Chiropractic Association (AEQ), the entity that represents and regulates the profession in Spain
The physiotherapist primarily works on the muscular system through massages and rehabilitation exercises.
The chiropractor intervenes in the nervous system to restore joint mobility, activate and strengthen postural muscles, and re-establish proper motor control through adjustments.
There is increasing scientific evidence demonstrating that the combination of rehabilitation exercises (muscle strengthening) and manual therapy (chiropractic) is the most effective approach to address chronic pain and its consequences.
On the other hand, rehabilitation alone achieves less satisfactory results.
We firmly believe that chiropractic is complementary to physiotherapy
Did you know that only 10% of our nervous system has pain receptors?
Pain or symptoms are the last events to appear in the chain of events after a dysfunction in the body. The body can remain in a state of inertia for a long time, not functioning at its best, but still working, until one day something overloads the nervous system (such as emotional trauma, food poisoning, or an accident), triggering a body alert through pain or other symptoms.
At this point, we seek a solution to improve through a reactive decision, as now we have no alternative, and the recovery path is slower. When we act preventively, we make a proactive decision that allows us to limit illness and optimize health.
At Origin Chiropractic Girona, we collaborate with those seeking to recover their health and with those already enjoying good health to achieve an optimal state of functioning.

THE CHIROPRACTIC ADJUSTMENTS
The manipulation and chiropractic adjustment differ in the field of chiropractic. Manipulation involves a general movement of the joints, aiming to improve mobility. On the other hand, chiropractic adjustment focuses on subluxations detected through a detailed analysis of the spine, with the goal of restoring optimal function of the nervous system and promoting self-healing.
At Origin Chiropractic Girona, we prefer the term “adjustments” to emphasize our commitment to the principle that health comes from within.
Respecting the art, philosophy, and science of chiropractic, our specific adjustments aim to restore neurologic balance to support the overall well-being of our patients.

After your first chiropractic adjustment, there are several possible responses:
-You may experience a deep sense of well-being, with an immediate reduction in symptoms, feeling lighter and able to breathe more deeply.
–You might not notice immediate changes, but your body is on its way to optimal function, progressing in the healing process.
–You may also experience temporary fatigue or discomfort, even more intense emotions than usual. These new sensations are normal and can arise as compressed nerves are released, and you become aware of feelings that were previously inhibited.
Always remember to communicate your sensations to the chiropractor to adjust treatments as necessary.
We are aware that there is some confusion among different healthcare professions nowadays. That’s why we would be happy to schedule a phone call to answer your questions and understand your goals. During the first visit, we take the necessary time to gather information, conduct examinations, and thoroughly explain the results along with the recommended care plan. In this case, the approximate duration is about 40 minutes.
As for regular adjustments, their duration is challenging to pinpoint as it depends on your body’s needs at that moment. On average, these adjustments typically last between 10 and 20 minutes.
The way changes are perceived varies from person to person, as each body has its own capacity for expression and recovery. The chiropractor designs a treatment plan tailored to each patient’s needs, based on the analysis of various tests conducted during the initial visit. Some individuals may experience symptom relief after a few sessions, while more chronic conditions might require up to a year or more to improve.
At Origin Chiropractic Girona, we emphasize the importance of visit frequency to achieve excellent and sustainable long-term results. We monitor your progress with regular reviews and adjust the treatment plan as we proceed.
